This is a video of my son Evan. He is 2 years old in this video and a little daredevil if you can't tell. He received this as a birthday gift about 4 months prior to this video. You can see how confident he has gotten. This was not the first bike that we bought him but it is without doubt the best. His first bike was from Wal-mart. It was heavy and impossible for him to ride. Even the smallest bike they offered was so heavy and he could barely reach the petals. We looked everywhere locally but we couldn't find a thing. We did some research online and read many positive reviews for Strider bikes. He is now 3 and a half years old and we can't keep him off of it. Even on rainy days or in the winter we will let him push around the house :) They are great for active toddlers.
We got his bike on Amazon for $85 bucks with free shipping. The one we got at walmart was $60 and it was so not worth it. I'm sure he will be on the Strider for another 2 years or so. Its so sturdy I bet we will be able to re-sale it later down the road.
Great features that no other bike provides for toddlers!
The Strider balance bike has no pedals and it helps toddlers learn balance and coordination before pedaling. They are the fastest, easiest, and safest way to learn how to ride a bike. They are perfect for tots 18 months to 5 years old. The bike has an adjustable seat and handlebars convenient for your growing little one. They also come in a variety of cute colors. These are not just little boy bikes either. I've seen some cute videos of little girls cruising on their lil pink Strider lol.
Other features:
These bikes are low maintenance and easy to assemble. We had ours put together in less than ten minutes. The materials are sturdy. They are free from cables, chains, sprockets, protrusions, or anything that could harm your child.
So skip the training wheels if your toddler can walk then they can ride a Strider balance bike.
Choosing the perfect helmet.
We first got him a cheap Wal-mart helmet but after his first tumble we decided to get one with a little better quality. Plus its hard to trust a helmet that cost ten dollars. Definitely don't skimp on good protective gear. We got him a pro-tec helmet from Amazon.com. It's the same brand his father uses and he rides BMX so I know it is a durable trustworthy product. I ordered Evan one when he was two. I got a size xtra-small and hoped it would fit. It was perfect and now that he is three it still works well.
Protec helmets have a tough ABS shell, stainless steel rivets, and are EPS foam lined.
They are one of the biggest and most trusted companies that make protection gear.
Here are some more videos of Evan in action. He loves riding at the skatepark with dad. He even coasts with his feet up. He's gotten so comfortable on his Strider bike, he even tries to do some jumps and tricks.
Check out this bad crash, lol!
